Mr Rick Smith of Longview, Texas clearly has a thing for big-finned Cadillacs. Around his home, he collected 295 of them. Now it is time to let them all go, in an auction on Saturday, April 21.
The Rick Smit collection is simply huge. Not only does it consist of 295 collector cars, but there are loads of parts too.
The cars are mainly Cadillacs from the 1950’s to early ‘60’s, it seems Mr Smith has a thing for large tailfins. He even cut cars in half to save these body parts, so if you need some new fins for your Caddy, this is the place to go.
According to auction house VanDerBrink Auctions there are 50 1959 Cadillacs in the collection, but also a rare 1953 Buick Skylark Convertible and a 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham, a car of which only 304 have been built. And then there are lots of Cadillacs that can be qualified as projects.

Apart from the Cadillacs, there’s also a few dozen Chryslers and Imperials, not to mention a few Lincolns and Mercurys. Most of these cars have spent many years outside in the Texas sun, so the main colour is brown.
