The Bonhams sale at Quail Lodge this weekend boasts a very special Ferrari. This 1980 Ferrari 312 T5 Formule One car was driven by Jody Scheckter in his year as World Champion. The T series of Ferrari won four Constructors’ and three Drivers’ World Championships under the brilliant engineer Mauro Forghieri. F1 champion Jody Scheckter drove this T5, chassis number 046, in eight Grand Prix races that season: in South Africa, United States, Belgium, Monaco, France, UK, Germany and the Netherlands. After Scheckter, it took Ferrari 21 years to see another Drivers’ World Championship. This V12 Formula 1 Ferrari is in superb condition and the history of the car is known from new.
